Winter warms at Granny Mouse Country House & Spa

slideimage-IMG6190Winter is a special time at Granny Mouse Country House & Spa situated in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, where although temperatures may often drop below minus, this intimate hotel makes up with its warm hospitality and emphasis on food and beverage.  This reputation continues to draw guests from near and far.

New beginnings…

Granny Mouse Country House & Spa is pleased to announce that Ryan Brand is back now in the esteemed position of Head Chef. Brand has been a chef since 2003, having trained at the International Hotel School in Cape Town before holding positions locally and abroad (in Cape Town and the USA). Previously Senior Sous Chef at Granny Mouse from 2011, he left a few months ago to spend valuable time with his family around the birth of his son.  Brand’s food philosophy is all about creating hearty country-style food, with a definite emphasis on fine-dining cuisine, ensuring fine fare consistently comes out of both Eaves restaurant and the Bistro at Granny Mouse Country House & Spa.

Owner Gill Bowmaker says, ‘We are thrilled to have Ryan back at Granny Mouse Country House & Spa. He has such a wonderful approach to the kitchen, a great work ethic, and will add much to what we offer guests in terms of cuisine as we move forward into an exciting new F & B era.’

The Cigar Lounge

To match the winter mood, The Cigar Lounge at Granny Mouse Country House & Spa is a wonderful environment for cigar and whiskey/cognac connoisseurs to relax and indulge a little.

General Manager, Sean Granger says, “There is nothing quite like a crackling fireplace, a good cognac and a cigar after a delicious meal. We have a top selection of different single malts along with a few blended whiskies from Ireland, Scotland and Japan as well as a variety of the world’s finest cigars.”

Knockando 12 year old single malt (Scotland); Orangerie infused (Scotland); Lagavulin 16 year old single malt (Scotland) and the very rare Monkey Shoulder 12 year old blended malt are just a few of the notable choices, with cigar selections including Montecristos from Havana.

Granger further points out that the Cigar Lounge simply adds to the Granny Mouse experience of always offering something extra special for guests, and that the well-trained-staff are only happy to advise on cigar and whiskey/cognac pairings.
