The Standard Bank Rising Star Awards is run by Black Bark Productions with the aim of recognizing, supporting and connecting South Africa’s business talent below the age of 40.
Laura Barker, managing director of Black Bark Productions said, “To identify, recognize, develop and celebrate exceptional individuals who lead the way is important if a country is to grow and excel.”
“It is for this reason that Hilton Worldwide partnered with Black Bark to be part of this initiative. The partnership is testament to the central role team member development plays at Hilton Worldwide,” said Jan
Launched in 2012, the initiative features talent from eleven categories which include ICT, Energy & Chemicals, Banking & Financial Services, Tourism & Hospitality, Media & Marketing and Entrepreneur & SMME.
Candidates are nominated by industry peers and participate in a range of assessments that identify their competencies. A shortlist of five (5) candidates is developed and each candidate is required to compile and present an industry-related case study to a panel of experts. The process is concluded with an in-depth interview with the panel of relevant industry experts and the category winner is then chosen.
