Nicholas ‘Nick’ More, 45, co-owner and CEO of the award-winning Lion Sand Big Five game lodge in Mpumalanga’s Sabi Sands reserve, is confirmed to have passed away on the morning of 23 April following a helicopter accident en route to Johannesburg.

He was multi-faceted and vital. He devoured life in every way. His passion for conservation, the hospitality industry and his business were exemplary.
A leading entrepreneur in the South African game tourism industry, More was piloting the aircraft. He had a business meeting in Johannesburg scheduled for 10am. When he failed to arrive at Midrand’s Grand Central airport urgent calls established that the aircraft was missing.
According to Mr Roger Mortlock, the pilot’s flight instructor, the Robinson R44 helicopter departed from Casterbridge in White River at 6.30am, carrying three passengers. It crashed on the farm Sondagskraal outside Nelspruit at about 7am. There were unconfirmed reports of heavy mist.
The wreckage was located at midday. It has been confirmed that Nicholas More, two other men and a woman died in the accident. No other More family members are said to be involved.
