The Mantis Collection has launched an incentive competition for South African travel consultants, and the prize is a trip for two to Antarctica worth R600, 000. Click here to download the competition PDF.

As the travel trade tally up year-end goals; the Mantis Group has thrown down a gauntlet to inspire booking agents as they look to set goals for 2020.

#JustGo with Mantis was launched on the 1st of October 2019 and is a nation-wide competition open to all South African travel and trade partners with contracted rates at Mantis (don’t have a contract with Mantis yet? Click here to apply).

To pick up the gauntlet, agents must have a minimum of 60 room nights booked at the Mantis uMfolozi Lodges in the uMfolozi Big Five Game Reserve in KwaZulu Natal. Room nights which are confirmed and paid for by the 31st of December 2020 will qualify agents for an opportunity to win a once-in-a-lifetime day trip to Antarctica for two people. Bookings at both Mantis Biyela Lodge and Mantis Mthembu Lodge will qualify.

Terms & Conditions

Validity from 1st October 2019 until 31st December 2020. Booked & stayed within this period. Not valid on current bookings made, new bookings only. Competition is open to local DMC’s, Travel Agents, Corporates & Professional Conference Organizers. Cannot be redeemed for cash & non-transferable. Minimum requirement of 60 room nights or more to be eligible. The more nights you book, the higher your chance of winning. Only redeemable once the final invoice has been paid.

Mantis Biyela Lodge and Mantis Mthembu Lodge are in the private uMfolozi Big Five Reserve which is a 6000-hectare concession attached to the acclaimed Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park. Fences between the oldest proclaimed wilderness in Africa and the new concession went down a few months ago, and wildlife is flowing easily into their newly gained territories.

Biyela Lodge is a sophisticated, modern lodge that cascades down a steep embankment of the White Imfolozi River overlooking a lagoon where elephants, wild dog and lions are often spotted. Spacious suites with private pools, day beds, and sprawling decks. Airy social spaces with various lounges, a dining room, spa, and bar by the firepit; Biyela Lodge is perfect for adult groups and couples seeking privacy.

Mthembu Lodge lies upriver, at eye-level with the river where crocodiles and hippos rule the waters. This is an intimate lodge perfect for families, and it is located on the exact site where Dr Ian Player stabled the patrol horses for Operation Rhino. Mthembu Lodge is also within the footprint of one of the oldest antipoaching quarters in the area. It is this footprint that enabled Mantis and the developers to create a lodge in a proclaimed Wilderness; come and enjoy a true wilderness safari for the soul.

Mantis is a collection of hotels, eco-escapes, and waterways that offer curated experiences to the well-heeled and conscious traveller. Rooted in conservation, Mantis pursues sustainable business practices and develops tourism products that are respectful of the environment and communities in which they operate.

Whether small and intimate or vast and complex, on a sweeping African plain, bustling city, private tropical island or frozen snowscape, each is an exceptional place for guests to find themselves. While uniquely different in the experiences they offer, all are linked through a collective obsession to be extraordinary, to be rare in a world that mass-produces sameness.

Mantis constantly curates, collects and discovers destinations and experiences that stir the soul, defy expectation and live in the heart forever. We will do anything in our power to advance the cause of sustainability and to promote further appreciation of the land, its creatures and our communities. We believe that the truly rare needs to be looked after and protected for future generations and are wholly committed to Legacy Creation.

Mantis hotels procure bathroom amenities, wines, coffee, and other amenities from suppliers that practice the utmost care for the environment and do not use animals to test their products. Mantis has partnered with Eco-planet Bamboo and is determined to replace all unsustainable packaging, and paper products in their hotels with bamboo alternatives.

The Accor Group has a 50% stake in Mantis, a strategic partnership which reinforced the Group as a leader in curated one-of-a-kind experiences and resonated with the Accor’s conservation platform; Planet21. Together, Mantis and Accor created the Community Conservation Fund Africa (CCFA) in response to the urgent need for the tourism industry to play a greater role in conservation and community upliftment. CCFA is a registered NPO which funds community upliftment programmes and conservation operations in Africa.
