World Leisure Holidays, well-known Indian Ocean Island specialist, is pleased to announce the promotion of Elaine Durr from Reservations Manager to Operations Director.
Elaine started with WLH 21 years ago in 1996. Her ambition and vision has seen her catapult her career, having joined the company as a personal assistant (PA) to then managing director (MD) Bruce Hutchison, who inspired and instilled the passion and knowledge that has seen Elaine grow and succeed.
While assisting Hutchison, Elaine also worked with Graeme Stephens (ex SUN CEO) and the Kerzner family in researching and opening the first One&Only office, which was operated from WLH’s head office. Reflecting back on her time working closely with the Kerzner family, Elaine shared, “I helped out with the family’s personal arrangements and during this time was taught a valuable lesson by Butch Kerzner; Never doubt that everything in life is possible. I held both him and his father in high regard, and this valuable quote has been the motto by which I live.”
It was in 2005, when Elaine took the opportunity to become the Reservations Manager. “Initially this role seemed like quite a challenge, but I absolutely came into my own in this role, as I felt that I had found my niche. I thrived having been pushed out of my comfort zone,” Elaine recalls.
Ramesh Jeenarain was appointed MD for WLH just over a year ago. He’s worked closely with Elaine and appreciates her as a valuable and loyal asset to the business. Commenting on this appointment, Jeenarain said, “Elaine’s experience of the company’s evolution over the years is incredibly rich, and Elaine’s methodical, and direct approach drives efficiencies. I’ve come to learn that she is well liked and respected within our business. Her promotion is well deserved and I wish her every success in this new role.”
In her personal life, Elaine loves nature and the bush, and is passionate about animals. She has three beautiful daughters, one of which is an award–winning chef based in Australia.
