A unique partnership between two of Southern Africa’s top brands will see homeowners who sell properties through Lew Geffen Sotheby’s International Realty getting tangible added value with British Airways Executive Club Avios “currency” that can be used to fly around the country or even around the world.
The new agreement makes Sotheby’s International Realty the exclusive residential real estate partner of British Airways in South Africa, which in practice means that owners who mandate Sotheby’s International Realty to sell their homes can elect to earn Avios at the end of the process.
These points can be used to purchase flights, upgrades, hotels and car rentals in SA and many other countries and the value of the Avios awarded is dependent on the value of the property sale. The greater the sale price, the greater amount of British Airways “currency” can be earned.
“This agreement has taken two years to hammer out, but it’s been worth the wait. While I believe both iconic brands will benefit from this association, ultimately it adds value to the relationships we have with our clients and that is what’s paramount,” says Lew Geffen, chairman of Lew Geffen Sotheby’s International Realty in SA.
“We’ve tried to keep the process as simple as possible, and all Lew Geffen Sotheby’s International Realty offices around the country can provide value tables and explain the sale price/Avois points to prospective sellers. A simple example, though, would be that a R2.5 million property would be worth 50 000 Avios, which is equivalent to a free Johannesburg-London flight, or flights to Mauritius for two.”
British Airways and Sotheby’s International Realty, he says, are co-branding their new initiative, with the real estate company promoting British Airways to its broad base of clients throughout South Africa, and the airline telling its business class passengers on every SA flight about the possibility of earning Avios by doing business with Lew Geffen Sotheby’s International Realty.
