TOMSA Levy Feedback Sessions Coming Soon

Pretoria, South Africa: With the travel and tourism trade show season now in full swing, the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) and Tourism Levy South Africa (TOMSA), plan to leverage a selection of the upcoming trade shows and industry events by hosting a series of levy contributor feedback sessions.

The feedback sessions will be hosted as part of TOMSA’s initiative to ensure that the organization keeps in touch with levy contributors and remains accountable. The sessions will also provide an opportunity for South African Tourism to give feedback on its destination marketing activities. The opportunity is also provided to SA Tourism to also outline ways in which levy contributing businesses can better leverage available marketing platforms and opportunities.

“These feedback sessions are a ‘must attend’ events not only for current levy contributors but also for all other travel and tourism businesses who are not yet part of the TOMSA community, says TBCSA Chief Executive Officer, Ms Mmatšatši Ramawela.  “Beyond the discussions about rands and cents collected, the sessions afford us as the administrators of the levy with the opportunity to engage and receive feedback from the trade on their experiences with TOMSA, their views about the various destination marketing initiatives of SA Tourism; and ideas on how TOMSA can further add value to their businesses”.  We call on all travel and tourism businesses to take advantage of these sessions and to ensure that they attend the sessions in their respective cities”.

Leveraging the city’s hosting of WTM Africa from 18 to 20 April, the first leg on this three-city sessions will see the TBCSA collaborating with Cape Town Tourism (CTT), to host a feedback session at Tsogo Sun’s Cape Sun hotel on Monday 17 April 2018.  The program will start at 18:00 sharp.

The program includes presentations from TOMSA, South African Tourism and Cape Town Tourism.  It is anticipated that the TOMSA and SA Tourism presentation will also include more information about the TOMSA Collaborative Fund.

“We are pleased to note the positive response from the industry regarding the TOMSA Collaborative Fund.    Already we have received numerous requests for more details.  Thus our discussions will invariably touch on this exciting aspect of TOMSA, says Ramawela.

Similarly, the Council is currently in talks with trade partners in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng to host TOMSA Feedback sessions. For KwaZulu-Natal, the aim is to host the feedback session in May around the time of the annual Africa Travel Indaba.  And for Gauteng, the targeted event is the Africa Hotel Show in June 2018.

For effective leveraging of the trade show platforms, the feedback sessions will only be held in the three main cities.  All TOMSA levy contributors attending the trade shows are urged to take advantage of this opportunity and attend the feedback sessions.
