Rockets, Powered by Medac, to partner with Nokia Cape Town Tens 2014

Tens Rugby has announced the partnership with Rockets, Powered by Medac, for the 2014 Nokia Cape Town Tens.

Rockets, Powered by Medac – pioneers in the local sports injury industry – will assist rugby and netball players throughout the tournament manage injuries with post-game massages, strapping, a cryotherapeutic ice recovery pool and their Rockets range, a high quality range of compression sportswear and functional training equipment.

Marlene Harris, Event Co-ordinator at Rockets, said, “We are looking forward to being a part of The Cape Town Tens weekend again. As the players will compete in a number of games over a short period of time, the emphasis on recovery is paramount to ensuring their bodies can stand up to the rigours of the weekend.”

Robbie Fleck, one of the founding members of the Cape Town Tens event, knows first-hand about the importance of recovery in the modern game: “In the modern game, whether in a professional set-up or in a social atmosphere, recovery and injury prevention is an absolutely critical part of sport and we are thrilled to have Rockets on board to offer this vital service to our players over the Tens weekend.”

In its sixth year running, the Cape Town Tens has established itself as the biggest ten-a-side tournament in world rugby. It is a truly unique sports lifestyle event that provides a winning formula of rugby, sunshine, banter and live entertainment to more than 2,000 players and 12,000 spectators over two days. Currently, the event is short-listed as a finalist in the Best Live Experience category of the upcoming Discovery Sports Industry Awards.

The Nokia Cape Town Tens will take place at Hamilton’s Rugby Club, on Friday 7 February and Saturday 8 February 2014, with more than 90 teams set to take part. The event will also feature a brand new Netball tournament, live entertainment, rugby development clinics, Springbok and international legends and South Africa’s biggest beer tent.
