Digital Nomads Swap London For Cape Town

Digital marketing guru Simon Lewis, the creator of Travel Concept Solutions (TCS) and Co Working Days, has partnered with Wesgro, the trade development agency for the Western Cape and the city of Cape Town in South Africa, to give ten digital nomads the opportunity to swap London for Cape Town.

In case you’re wondering what digital nomads are, according to Wikipedia, they are people who use wireless internet, smartphones, Voice over IP, and cloud-based applications to work remotely wherever they live or travel. Digital nomads also often use coworking spaces, cafes, house sitting agreements, and shared offices in major cities around the world.

“Digital nomads are a growing sector in travel and the rise in popularity of Cape Town as a Digital Nomad destination is also growing,” says Lewis. “Wesgro identified London as the perfect city to start their global search for digital nomads who would love the opportunity swap London for Cape Town for one week in order to experience the local start up scene and be part of the first Digital Disruption Think Tank scheduled for the 20th October 2017.”

With the offer of an all expenses paid trip to Cape Town up for grabs, over 100 hopeful digital nomads applied to attend the exclusive launch selection event at the trendy co-working space Launch 22 in the Shoreditch area of London

In partnership with local company Included.co, who facilitate shared workspace globally, 60 Start Ups & Digital Nomads were invited to the venue where representatives of Wesgro, including CEO Tim Harris and Minister Alan Winde, gave brief and interesting presentations on why Cape Town is fast becoming one of the top global destination for digital nomads with the affordable cost of living, the great climate, and the developing start-up ecosystem.

Cape Town: A Digital Nomad Destination

“We jumped at the opportunity to partner with TCS to promote Cape Town to our London community as not only a digital nomad destination, but a strategic gateway for doing business in Africa as a whole,” says Hector Kolonas founder of Included.co. “As someone who was born in South Africa, I find myself continuously inspired by its rapidly-growing startup scene, I can’t wait to hear how the trip will open up remote working and global opportunities for the group travelling from London.”

All guests were given the chance to win a trip to Cape Town to attend the first Digital Disruption Think Tank on the 20th Oct 2017 and experience the Start-Up Digital Nomad lifestyle in the city for themselves and 10 were selected based on their application by a panel in Cape Town.

The ten digital nomads who will Swap London for Cape Town are: Jessica Knapp, Office RND; Agnes Gradzewicz, CMO Smarty Sofware; Angela Yu, Founder The London App Brewery; Lisa Doole, Co founder & Director TAP APP; Kaniyet Rayev, CEO Haus; Marc Dhalluin, TripIndigo ; Jono van Deventer, Head of Product for a health/ tech start up; Sydney Thiam , Co-Founder/CMO Beespoke; and Georgi Georgiev, Director CEME.

These 10 Digital Nomads will arrive in Cape Town on the 19th October 2017 for a week trip to meet up with local start ups and innovators and be part of the first Digital Disruption Think Tank.
