FEDHASA Cape Announces Leadership Bursary Recipient

FEDHASA Cape through their leadership development bursary is developing leaders in the hospitality industry. They recently announced Jamie Pieters as their 2017 recipient of the Hospitality Leadership Programme.

In order to develop the growth of leadership within the hospitality industry and support the inaugural Hospitality Leadership Programme set to be launched at the UCT Graduate School of Business shortly, the Federated Hospitality Association of South Africa (FEDHASA) Cape region has announced the recipient of the 2017 FEDHASA Cape Leadership Bursary.

FEDHASA Cape chairperson Jeff Rosenberg has confirmed that Jamie Pieters, who is currently Accounts Office Manager at the Peninsula All-Suite Hotel Sea Point has been selected after an extensive interview process.

“We are very excited to welcome Jamie to the programme. This course will give him market insight, as well as the business acumen and leadership skills he needs to maximise opportunities in the hospitality industry as a whole and to contribute to the competiveness and further success of the establishment he represents,” Rosenberg says.

Jamie began his career at the Peninsula Hotel as a management trainee in 2006 whilst completing his Hospitality Management Diploma. He is currently studying towards completing a B.Com through UNISA as a long term goal.

The FEDHASA Cape Leadership Bursary forms part of the association’s contribution to developing future leaders in the hospitality industry.  This new program is the only one of its kind in South Africa that focusses on advancing leadership skills of individuals in the hospitality industry.  The programme, in partnership with PMR Hospitality and the UCT Graduate School of Business (GSB), comprises an online bridging programme, a 6-day in-class session at the GSB campus, followed by a practical research project. It will be delivered under the auspices of leading academics, practitioners and hospitality business leaders.
