Gabriëlskloof gets festooned with Favourite Things Market

Gabriëlskloof, the awe-inspiring wine cellar on the outskirts of Bot River in the Overberg, will be transformed into a festive and fun ‘happy place’ when its 4th annual Favourite Things Market will add some colour, creativity and charm to the silly season on Friday, 13 December and Saturday, 14 December.

Ranging from prized Kokkedoor koeksisters and homemade pestos to fresh oysters and bubbly, this authentic and trendy market showcases more than 30 passionate producers who will make, bake, curate, craft, sew and share their seasonal delights for you to stock up in style.

With beautiful tables brimming with organic produce, local cheeses, artisan beers, real Dutch stroopwafels, handmade butter, cured meats and much more, this lets-get-together-and-revel-in-all-things-beautiful-and-favourite feast is ideal for that last minute Christmas shopping.

Gorgeous décor and unique finds include quirky items made from paper and wood; children’s linen and clothing; deluxe body products; knitted goods; bags, vintage vinyl decals, ceramics and pottery ware, handmade stationary and calendars; printed T-shirts and vests; shoes; jewellery, and indigenous fynbos wreaths and Christmas trinkets.

“Our favourite things include beautifully crafted artisanal products, fresh local produce, passionate foodies and creative geniuses, all coming together in a friendly, happy, special atmosphere. This year’s Gabriëlskloof Favourite Things Market promises a sensory overload like never before, with an impressive variety of tastes, textures and treats to perk up jaded palates and moods. It truly is a beautiful celebration of all our favourite things, shared with like-minded enthusiasts,” explains Nicolene Finlayson, the creative whiz behind this annual highlight.

With the soulful sounds of the French accordion and jazzy tunes of Tim Burnz wafting through the air, guests can browse the enticing stalls and shop to their heart’s content. Or simply relax on the lawn after a game of pétanque whilst the young ones enjoy the jumping castle and other fun activities in the estate’s chapel – think of it as a special and blessed kiddies area. The Gabriëlskloof Favourite Things Market is your ticket to the perfect day out with the whole family, and is the spot to extend your summer sojourn in the Overberg and linger a bit longer in the valley whilst mingling with the local folk.

Whether you need to impress the in-laws, spoil those overseas guests, keep the little ones busy or simply just want to catch your breath amidst the maddening festive rush, Gabriëlskloof Favourite Things Market is your ticket to the good life.

The market kicks off on Friday, 13 December, at 5pm till 9pm whilst all the magic will be repeated on Saturday, 14 December, from 11am until 6pm.
