Zimbabwean Comedian Counts Down for World Record

Read-it-on-AppleNewsThe countdown for Zimbabwean funny man Carl Joshua Ncube to begin his Guinness World Record attempt in performing the most stand-up comedy gigs in a week is on, and he is urging everyone to come out and support him.

Ncube is planning on performing 35 shows – at 35 different venues – from August 17 to 23 in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Harare, Norton, Gweru, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls, where his grand finale will be at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge’s amphitheatre, with proceeds going to the Victoria Falls Anti-Poaching Unit.

Ross Kennedy, chief executive of Africa Albida Tourism, which operates Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, said: “Having worked with Carl before, we are absolutely delighted to be supporting him once again, and to be hosting the final show of his world record attempt at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge.

“His ongoing support for the Victoria Falls Anti-Poaching Unit is highly valued and widely recognised by the Victoria Falls community. We wish him well in his task ahead,” Mr Kennedy said.

Ncube said he believed it would be incredible if a Zimbabwean actually broke the Guinness World Record, which is currently held by Australian comedian Mark Murphy who set the record in 2007 when he performed 30 stand-up comedy gigs in 30 venues all over Australia.

“It is amazing to even attempt it considering comedy is still so very young in Zimbabwe,” Ncube said.

The ambitious stand up comedian’s application to the Guinness World Record body has been accepted, and Ncube said he is feeling both excited and sick to his stomach about the mammoth task ahead.

Ncube appealed to Zimbabweans and South Africans to come out in their numbers, and be a part of history by supporting him in his world record attempt, through buying tickets, sharing information about the shows and just having a very good laugh with him.
