Gabriëlskloof releases exciting new edition of The Blend

Cape south coast wine estate Gabriëlskloof has revealed that The Blend 2015, a sought after wine in the family winery’s Premier range and the ideal gift for wine connoisseurs this festive season, is now ready for release. The wine also comprises four estate-grown Bordeaux grape varieties led by Cabernet Sauvignon, with 2015 having been one of the Cape’s classic vintages.

“The grapes are handpicked into small crates, ensuring that only the best, optimally ripe fruit is vinified,” says winemaker Peter-Allan Finlayson. “By combining excellent fruit with carefully selected barrels, we have created a wine showing delicate violets and dark fruit on both nose and palate, with just a hint of vanilla and tobacco leaf. The mouthfeel is refined with a restrained, fynbos finish.”

Most recently, the 2013 vintage won Double Gold at the Six Nations Wine Challenge, judged by an international panel to compare the very best wines from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Chile, Canada and the US; and, the trophy for best in class at the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show.

Highlighting Gabriëlskloof’s approach of working with nature to craft wines expressive of their birthplace, the 2014 vintage was singled out for four stars at this year’s Nedbank Green Wine Awards and named Best Red in the IPW (Integrated Production of Wine) category of this competition for sustainably grown wines.

In addition to environmentally-friendly practices on the farmland that produces Gabriëlskloof’s product, specialised cameras have been set up for the conservation and monitoring of natural wildlife, such as leopard and other wild game. The cameras are part of its comprehensive environmental management plan to encourage biodiversity.

Occupying a prominent location overlooking the valley, Gabriëlskloof enjoys sweeping views of the Babylonstoren mountains and the surrounding wheat fields. Its stylish visitor centre is a landmark destination that offers tastings of wine, chocolates and its olive oil, and is home to an attractive country-style restaurant where slow-cooked, shared meals are served with authentic platteland passion and a generous hand.

Gabriëlskloof The Blend 2015 is available for sale from the estate’s, as well as restaurants and wine stores for the recommended retail price of R85/bottle.
